If I'm understanding this right, then it's just a product of the internet, while as far I can tell Internet Archive does have their own crawler(s), many sites are still saved by users, more popular sites (sucj as Youtube) are likely to be saved way more often than a less popular site. Many people probably who also use the site, might not archive it, so there's likely to be gaps moreso.
